@fabulousheroes @queerstudies I recently saw the Movie Bros (romantic comedy) at the #MQFF. A good commentary on how mainstream media tells the #Queer story vs the need to tell our own stories.
Had the pleasure of watching this film during a past Melbourne Queer Film Festival. It's showing tonight on SBS world movies and I highly recommend it.

Also happening at fed square until Monday is the Melbourne Queer Film Festival. So having cops around is also triggering for many of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Small film festivals. Films made by passionate people. E.g Melbourne's #Queer #Film #Festival #MQFF
I'm heading to the #mqff (#Melbourne #Queer #Film Festival again tonight. This time to see the 'Hooking Up' shorts package. I'm wearing my tee from Jamila Main x Ruby Allegra because the industry is still largely ableist.
I watched the excellent short doco The Accidental Archivist at #MQFF yesterday. If you are in Narrm/Melbourne today recommend catching this talk with Julie Peters at ACMI at 4pm https://tix.mqff.com.au/Films/The-Accidental-Archivist-In-Conversation-with-Julie-Peters
You can watch the 28 min doc here https://www.abc.net.au/religion/watch/compass/the-accidental-archivist/13942686 Julie Peters is a legend in the trans community in Australia. She was the first person to transition at the ABC, at a time when there were no role models around her. From her early twenties, Julie started collecting anything trans or queer related to help her work out who she was. Over the years sheβs collected one of the most comprehensive trans archives in the country. Including Interview with ABC MD David Anderson.
Saw the wonderful #trans #film "My Emptiness and I", the Spanish film by Adrian Silvestre. It has one more screening during the #Melbourne Queer Film Festival (#mqff) and I urge you to see it's poetically painful beauty.
Just saw THE BLUE CAFTAN (2022) at #MQFF and β wow. Absolutely blown away. One of the most emotionally affecting films Iβve seen in years. Incredible performances, especially from Lubna Azabal (Mina). Walked out of the cinema in tears.
