Today in 1967, CBC cancels the children's show Butternut Square but CBC negotiates to provide half the studio space back.
A new set of a home, yard and treehouse was built.
This new show, starring Ernie Coombs & called Mr. Dressup, debuts on Feb. 14.

Today would have been Ernie Coombs' 95th birthday! 🎂

I, like many Canadians, grew up watching Mr. Dressup (and Casey! and Finnegan! with the Tickle Trunk!) -- he was a cultural fixture.

Got to meet him once -- he was a patron at an arts organisation I worked at. Lovely, lovely man.
