@dashdsrdash @arichtman
I have a hp T620 in use for that purpose and it's fine.
I shoved in a cheap M.2 and connected a spare drive via USB 3.0 and now it does backups and archival duty for less than a @Raspberry_Pi #Pi4B4GB or #Pi400 would've cost me #MSRP!
It's also fanless and barely sips 10W when under full blast as 80% of the case is just a giant-ass heatsink that is bigger than a flattened-out Noctua NH-D15!
@Natanox @Stege I have found #LinusTechTips as a good source for general advice, but if I'm looking for precise technical details, I've found it less helpful.
For example I got one of those refurbished and way-below #MSRP #Dell desktops (because companies buy them in bulk and then dump them in bulk so they're a great steal, highly recommend if you don't plan on modding the system too much BTW) and wanted to upgrade the GPU. He recommended three or four GPUs for the computer I had in one of his videos, I believed, but according to other sources, not all of them were actually compatible with that computer's motherboard.
His videos did save me tons of time in researching which GPUs would work and helped me narrow things down a bit but I'm glad I didn't use them to make the final decision on which #GPU I actually bought at the end of the day.

@trashheap same.
The only winning move is to refuse to buy a @Raspberry_Pi above #MSRP!
Not that the #Greedflation hasn't impacted those as well.
The only #RaspberryPi that was constantly available was the #Pi400 and that jumped from €99 in 2021 to €130 in 2023 for the Kit and €75 to €100 for the bare unit.

@nsonic79 never pay #scalpers - not even if they sell below #MSRP for #clearance!
@Verfassungklage Mal schaun ob @Raspberry_Pi es dann endlich hinbekommt dass diese zur #MSRP bei deren Distributoren auch verfügbar sind!!!
@ethanOS thx but I'm still figuring out how to get the #BananaPiZeroM2 #BPi0M2 working as a drop-in replacement for the @Raspberry_Pi #Pi0W & #Pi0 since #RaspberryPi seems more unwilling than unable to get units sold via their distributors at #MSRP.
Cuz the scalpers charge €60+ for a #Pi0W and €120+ for a #Pi0 v1.3 when both are actually €10 and €5 MSRP.
Industrial customers however seem to get double-digit numbers at MSRP just fine...

:boost_ok: #FollowerPower: Does anyone know a #distributor that actually sells @Raspberry_Pi / #RaspberryPi #PiZero v1.3 / #Pi0 1.3 (NOT #Pi0W / #Pi0W2!) at #MSRP or at least not beyond 300% of it?
Cuz all I see are shitty #scammers and #ValueRemoving #rentseekers aka. [unofficial!] "#resellers" that charge 1.000% - >2.000% of the MSRP and they seem to #bot all the shops empty.
Like it's worse than with the #PS5 & #XboxSeriesX, and that's already shit.

@Natanox As much as I'd consider alternatives to @Raspberry_Pi since their stuff is being scalped beyond insane, a lot of those suffer from poor software support, worse availability and even higher prices.
That being said I do use a #BananaPiZeroM2 / #BPi0M2 since the #Pi0/#Pi0W is being scalped >10x it's #MSRP and I've yet to find a good #CM4 / #Pi4B replacement that isn't out of production, double the price or unsupported by even @ubuntu or #Debian...

However, I’m suspecting none of these price cuts will trickle down to consumers.
In December, I attempted to buy a #MachE from local dealers. All of them (except Morgan Hill) charged 10k-12k above #MSRP and above their advertised prices.
This distasteful practice ultimately stopped me from buying the first #AmericanCar I’ve wanted in 25 years. #Ev
