I really don’t understand why the default image wrapping option in Word is “Inline in Text”. There’s no practical use for it in most cases. Should be “Square” or “Top and Bottom”.

Novices not aware of the wrapping options will add unnecessary paragraph breaks and tabs to make space for images which just makes editing the document a nightmare. #msWord #microsoft #word

Why do I use a #Mac for personal use? Because even for all its imperfections, the combination of a *nix system with an OS that is compatible with a variety of programs (#MSWord, #Bear, #Photoshop et al.) is invaluable, and is a huge boon to productivity.

Of course, all my servers and other systems to run #Linux, because I used #WindowsServer once in my life, and I don’t ever want to do that again :ablobcatgooglymlemjumping:

It would really enhance my ability to finish this overdue report if #msword would stop making all my text disappear at random intervals.

Hey all, would anyone happen to know how to turn a Microsoft Word template (.dot) file into a fillable PDF with proper accessible labels, etc? If I want to update my direct deposit information for the state to deposit supplemental aid for the blind, I currently have to have them send me a print form that I need to get sighted help to complete. One of the reasons I prefer #LaTeX to #MSWord is automatic hyphenation (hyphenating long words at the end of lines to make the text more legible and pleasant).

I just discovered that this is actually available in MS Word 365: Layout > Hyphenation > Automatic. Works well without fiddling.

#ResearchSupportPartnershipUiO #Zotero is always popular but can also be frustrating. Today I helped a researcher modify their citations in a #MSWord document. To add/edit page numbers & ranges, you don't manually write into the reference field in Word, but instead, click into the reference, then on "Add/Edit Citation" in the menu. This opens the Zotero bar. Here, you can click on the reference, and a small window opens where you can add/edit pages! It will sync and works like a charm!

6th semester into a #bachelor #degree and the only form of #collaboration fellow students know is sending #msword documents to eachother preferably via WhatsApp 🙈🤣 - welcome to #university of #Trier, they offer #Seafile #O365 but no licence for #onedrive, so students revert to Google Drive & Docs to collaborate 🤷🏻‍♀️

#LaTeX? Inscrutable. #MSWord? Unreliable and difficult to version-control. #Markdown? Poor support for print layout.
