After making a negative post, let's follow it up with something great about the game.
Today, I managed to ulti "Chandra, Torch of Defiance" for the first time ever while playing Gruul Ramp in Historic Brawl. It was absolutely disgusting but also the most fun match I had this month so far.
Also, thanks to my opponent, who had to choose between destroying the 7 Loyalty Chandra or Urabrask the Hidden and came to the conclusion that his creatures entering tapped is the bigger problem.
I really don't like the idea of playing a Commander you don't even want to play just to get the color combination for a 99 card good stuff pile in the colors you prefer.
I want a serviceable Standard or Alchemy deck for Bo1 Ranked but I don't want to play the meta (I never do). So far I haven't been able to put anything together and it's bumming me out.
Questa immagine sottolinea un momento di frustrazione:
arrivato a Diamond 1 e poi disceso a Diamond 4 in una sola giornata.
Quel maledetto sabato ho avuto un parziale di circa 5-30.
I’m hoping to play more than this during Wilds of Eldraine. I should at least be able to make silver in limited, and hopefully will find some standard decks I enjoy.
Interesting that I’m still in the top half of (effectively) the most active players with these numbers.

After seeing the new Ashiok in action a few times, I really want to build a Historic Brawl deck with them as Commander.
I won't say that the game is really annoying today, but after losing nine out of ten matches with a budget ~60% win rate deck and losing another 7 matches with my ~80% Etali deck... I'm not amused! 😅😅
It also feels like they changed the match ups in Historic Brawl. There is no reason for Adeline to face so many Atraxas, Jodahs or Ragavans 😱
The game isn't doing a great job in explaining the little things. Can someone explain to me the difference between a normal pack and a mythic pack. Is it worth buying the mythic one for an extra 300 gold or is the normal pack fine?
First draft in Eldraine, started in red-green then got passed enough red cards to go mono-red. Turns out, mono-red is pretty good. I initially had five Redcap Thieves in my deck then swapped one out for a Grabby Giant.

I'm all for set rotation, but it's a bit devastating how hard some mediocre decks I love to play got hit, compared to really annoying ones keeping their full power. I'm glad that I only have to play Alchemy for the Midweek Event and can keep all my beloved white cards for a somewhat competent midrange token deck.
Wow, #MTGArena is still in maintenance mode. I don't remember there being a set release this bad for a while...
I thought this was a pretty good draft deck, but it went a quick 0-3. https://sealeddeck.tech/IthKyNmAGx
Mulligan, Mulligan, Mulligan + Mana Flood (12 lands, 4 spells) didn't help.
But it was routinely smoked on card quality, too.
Looks like it could be a lo-o-ong draft format for me...
(j/k, for some reason it's not unusual to get 0-1 wins in my first draft of a format.)

Just finished my first #MTGArena draft for Wilds of Eldraine. My first since MOM actually, I didn't play the Lord of the Rings set.
The Rats/Bargain/Celebration deck I built held its own for 3-3. Not bad for my first time drafting the set, I'd say!
I had been keeping myself logged into birdsite to get stay on top of Arena maintenance status but today it occurred to me that I could just cut out the middleman:
Struggling a little bit with downtime, but at least I could turn all my gold into packs. Sadly, I didn't pull any rares that get me excited. There are some nice cards, but none of them are on my highly anticipated list.
I hope the maintenance is done quickly. I still have to spend two draft tokens and need to earn 600 gems for the new Mastery.
Regarding these pulls, I'm most excited to team up Syr Ginger with the LTR Hobbits and to finally get into Reanimator for the first time with Virtue of Persistence.
Started a draft and then got booted due to a network error and then I remembered my cardinal rule: DON'T TRY TO PLAY WHILE THEY'RE STILL IN MAINTENANCE MODE
I watched a lot of Early Access Drafts for Wilds of Eldraine over the last couple of days to get a feel for the pack. Here are the things I'm most excited about:
- Blue/White "tap opponents creature" decks with Hylda of the Icy Crown for Standard and Historic Brawl.
- I was also surprised at how well Boros Celebration is performing. Got me interested in snatching a few Ash, Party Crasher for Standard to indulge in one of my favorite color combinations.
- The Commander for Historic Brawl I want to play the most is Eriette of the Charmed Apple. I really want to try different Aura-heavy control decks with some burn and life gain.
- Not sure what to do with it, but I'm also slightly interested in Agatha and her Cauldron.
I didn't play any of the Historic No Ban List event AMA
Spend the second half of August without spending any gold in anticipation for tomorrow. I'm so excited to finally draft the new set... a lot!?
