#mtleg2023 watching the hearing on HB517. The hypocrisy of certain members of the Republican Party is sickening. There has been a lengthy list of bills supported by haters in the Legislature that substantially infringe on the Constitutional rights of people including students, especially female students and LGBTQI students. Yet, they want to disempower the Board of Regents to protect gun rights and the right to engage in hate speech. Stunning hypocrisy. #ProtectMontanasConstitution.

The good news is HB432 protects the right to abortion for Montana women by eliminating several laws restricting access to abortion and funding and health insurance coverage for abortion. It also allows a parental opt-in for human sexuality education in schools. The bill will be heard in House Judiciary on Tuesday, 2/14, at 8:00 am in Room 137. You do not need to register in advance to show up and testify in support.

SB 99 would interfere with parental rights and healthcare access for transgender youth. The bill interferes with parental rights and privacy. The Montana Constitution provides a broad right to individual privacy, especially for health care decisions. We don't need to spend our tax dollars on legal fees defending unconstitutional bills.
