#mud #muds #retrogaming Anyone got recommendations for a chill, laid back mud that is easy to pick up, do a few things and put down?

I go back to Aardwolf MUD every now and then for some quick bashing and quick dopamine rewards. It remains to be the best MUD fitting my description above.

I want to enjoy Discworld MUD more but it consistently feels like it takes a lot of grind to get what I want.

Tried Legends MUD, beautiful MUD but the immersion makes it not easy to just put down.

Randomly thinking about the time I was professionally employed making a text-based online multiplayer game and that I dedicated a fair bit of time to developing an entire targeted emoting system so people could have RP sex with multiple partners better...

Before, you could do a text emote like "emote sits on the ground" and everyone would see

(Your character) sits on the ground.

The problem was - what if you wanted to sit on someone's lap? you could do "emote sits on John's lap and beckons to Rayna" but everyone, including John and Rayna would see the same

(Your character) sits on John's lap and beckons to Rayna.

I made it so you could do "emote sits on John's lap and beckons to Rayna" and John would see
(Character) sits on your lap and beckons to Rayna

Rayna would see
(Chracter) sits on John's lap and beckons to you.

and everyone else would see "(Character) sits on John's lap and beckons to Rayna".

It even accounted for gender and pronouns!

New instance, new #intro time. #introduction
We're the Gaptangle, a #plural collective of large and fluctuating numbers. There are roughly 25 of us capable of fronting. The one you'll see the most right now is Ammonite. Others will, try to, remember to sign.
We're a not easily nameable flavor of anarchist, focused on loose networks of small independent communities and households. Different fronters' views won't be quite the same.
As much as we'd like to, we've never had the time to develop an extensive scientific background on our interests and theoretical background on our anarchism, plus reading gets more difficult as our mental stuff advances, but I am too determined to let it go yet. So just so you know, we're largely the hands in the dirt watch stuff happen and learn that way type.
We intend to do field recording in the future but didn't put it in the hashtags because we have no equipment, and I refuse to use it saying we do it when so far I've only recorded anything with my phone, since it's what I have right now. I have some pride OK lol

What is listening to you where you think no one is watching?
The question what would they say to you if they could let you know is too simple. Too simple by far. And somehow at the same time too complicated by far as well.

We won the war in #Aetolia, and it was great. If anyone's looking to get back into #MUDs, I highly recommend it! It's better than it's ever been and it's never been bad.

We have been back at work adding some of the final abilities in our gathering #skills this week. The major addition is our newly added #tree felling and logging system, which use dynamic values based on the tree's trunk size for how long and how many chops it will take to fell and how tall it is for how many logs it will produce. Bonus: a fully felled/logged tree leaves behind a tree stump which can be used as a seat!

This week we've been working on a #Druid skill called #Beast, which allows the player to morph different body parts into those of animals, unlocking various abilities dependent on the morphed parts!

Absolutely one of the most fun skills to work on so far. It's incredibly dynamic and has a lot of unique RP and play potential!

I think this new generation of text completion AI models (plus natural text to speech) could make for some really intuitive text based adventure games that are easier to play for casual users. #muds

#introduction part 2 - Hobbies!

In my off-time I am an avid #roleplayer and #gamer (#pcgaming - just bought my first #console since the original 8-bit #nintendo). Some of my favorite games are #masseffect #baldursgate #hades and #tsw (The Secret World).

I wish there were more / better #mmorpgs (or that the old text-based #muds would make a comeback).

Anybody play #muds? Itching for some text game goodness I hopped into Fed2 in #tintin. #retrogaming

Spent some time designing a game loop for #Underpunks that incorporates the #RP task of busking in the marketplace.

So soon players will be able to choose a skill off their character sheet that they have spent time working on to put on a street entertainment, build a crowd, then use a flourish to see what loot they get from the crowd.

I'm excited to see if players will take to it!
