I debugged a MUI Label component, at a glance it seems like it should work, but it doesn't. The internal state is defined correctly, the generated class names are too, but for some reason `MuiInputLabel-shrink` ends up miss somewhere. 🤷♂️ Anyway, I managed to create a hack that got it to work. I wonder why the hack doesn't work with derived state? 🤔 #mui #javascript

Whenever I have to work with the MUI, I always feel like it's garbage. It's always hard to customize it to your needs, but I thought if you follow defaults, then everything should be fine. Yeah-yeah, but not with MUI. Even basic functionality of their neat TextField is broken if you try to SSR the form. 🤦♂️ #frontend #javascript #mui

I have seen too many #React and other projects that rely entirely on component libraries like #MUI, but work with such outdated knowledge of #CSS like floats and absolute positioning.
#UI that is solid stable AND sustainsble (from the development standpoint) benefits immensely from the understanding of both #HTML and #CSS.

Together with @2xAA I founded the band #iieinander in 2021 and yesterday we finally released our website with some basic info AND our super cool logo in 3D using #r3f combined with a custom #glsl #shader (#fbm #noise).
It's also my second learning project for #nextjs and #react. I used #mui v5 for the first time here, to have some default components that just look good.
