The mark is powerful. But don't forget that Kyojouro fought Akaza to a DRAW.

That should have been the clearest signal that this batch of Hashira are different. It's why Tengen taking on and winning against UM6 is not as surprising (without the poisoning, he probably could have solo’d).

It's not surprising the Muichiro was able to take down Gyokko with such ease. Because the mark is powerful, but also because these Hashira are POWERFUL. We saw this clearly even in the first fight.
