A #Muscovy #Duck at Wells #Park in #Melbourne, #Florida. A large duck pond sits behind the local library, and is home to a host of #Waterfowl, including the #MuscovyDuck. The Muscovy is native to much of the Americas and parts of Europe, but not the Principality of #Muscovy (Moscow).
The name may be a European-ized version of the name of the #Muisca tribe of #IndigenousPeople of the #Americas, who raised the #bird.
Alternatively, the name may be like the name of the turkey, suggestive of an exotic place, but one with no connection to the #animal.

Like many ancient #calendars, it attempted to reconcile the movements of the #sun and the #moon. However, while the #Mesopotamians, #Indians, #Chinese, and #Muisca had long since worked out systems of adding extra months while the #Egyptians, #Iranians, #Mesoamericans, and #Quechua decided to disregard and moon and just use the sun, the early Romans did a little work and then threwe up their hands.

Ah, OK. #Latinx looks like it should refer to people descended from Latin speakers, which in the context of #LatinAmerica would mostly mean the Spanish and Portuguese colonisers, but I guess that's my #ignorance showing.
Would it be correct to say that, for example, a #Muisca person and a person of mixed Muisca and Spanish descent are both Latinx, but a Peruvian person of entirely Spanish descent is not Latinx?
