I’ve been a professional developer for just shy of 50 years now. From writing support software for #GPS and helping to design a candidate language for the #Ada competition at my first job to developing learning apps for early childhood in #Swift at Learning Touch, I’ve pretty much seen it all.
I guess my two favorite endeavors were working at #MIT and #Honeywell on #Multics and then at #Symbolics on #Genera.
I’ll have more to say soon.

It's an in-depth brain dump by Bernard S. Greenberg, author of #multics emacs c.a. 1979. His was the first Emacs to use lisp as it's extension language and probably the only one to have it's source code comments in a mixture of Yiddish and #Latin.
Gives background on #teco and the early creation of Emacs that was NOT done by #rms

I like how Multics License was intended not only to give everyone permission to use the software free, but also to care about brands of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and BULL HN Information Systems Inc. It seems to be a quite underestimated way of trademark protection!
