I finally tried a multi-toot threat with partially unlisted toots.

Works fine. I have my creations still listed, but the sources for the creation is unlisted and revealed, when opening the first toot from the perspective of the home thread, that is. They're still listed in the @silkester thread, which is kind of a bummer. I'd prefer if it only shows below the toot. Oh, well.

This is a long thread (#multitoot) with ~37 authors + whoever anyone else adds, so I think you need to take another look.

For anyone curious: To create a ordered/numbered #multitoot of books as you read them, simply reply to your original (hopefully pinned) toot. This places your latest #book at the end of the thread, yet above eventual replies you've received (at least this is what I'm seeing on both the Mastodon-app and the Tusky-app). Get ready for #booktoots, #bookstodon!
