The only thing I didn't like was the ghost of Christmas present. She's not supposed to be scary, and I thought the representation of her was creepy and completely not within the style of the rest of the film.

But overall, I'm glad to have a Christmas Carol that I can enjoy. #muppetchristmascarol

Watching #muppetchristmascarol again tonight. I've only seen it once before, two years ago, and here's what I wrote about it.

"So, I really enjoyed this movie. The only other version I've been able to enjoy has been Patrick Stewart's one-man stage show.

I got so saturated with A Christmas Carol (I was in the play in the last year of junior high and all three years of high school. I was also the co-director my senior year.) that I couldn't deal with hearing or seeing it anymore.

The Muppet Christmas Carol didn't hit for me like I was expecting. Not having the 3 ghosts be one of the core Muppet crew seemed like a misstep. I come to these movies for Kermit and the gang and they feel like they're barely in this. Fozzie and Scooter should have been spirits.

@MartinR Nice 👍 I usually watch The #MuppetChristmasCarol (I hear Disney have released a version to stream that at last included the song they cut out many years ago), but think I’ll instead go for Spirited — on Apple TV+, it’s a modern musical version of A Christmas Carol with Will Ferrell and others.

@suzannesscala Depending on how old she is, how about making a blanket fort together and having snacks together in it? I was just reminiscing with someone else, remembering how much I used to love making and playing in them.

Alternatively, I’ve also just learned that Disney+ has the original original The #MuppetChristmasCarol to stream, with the beautiful song When Love Is Gone reinstated. (I think it’s in the Extras section.) Might she like that, if you have Disney+?

@Kat My late wife and I holidayed in #Toronto many years ago and so loved the place. (We went on to Niagara Falls afterward.) I remember there being shopping malls and walkways underground between buildings and being told they formed an essential way to get around when the weather turned cold and snowy.

@rorystarr Oh my gosh! That is the best news!

I first watched The #MuppetChristmasCarol on VHS and it had Belle’s song, When Love Is Gone, in it. When I got rid of the VHS and replaced it with DVD I realised it was missing and was devastated. The same with the Blu-Ray version.

The song is so moving, stops there being a jarring jump in the film, and prepares the way for the final song which refers back to it.

If you have Disney+ do look out for it!

I know every line of #MuppetChristmasCarol and you better believe my wife finds it annoying.

But I disregarded A Muppet Christmas Carol my whole life until a few years ago and I’m so glad I came around. It really is a classic.

What would’ve been just a kiddie funnest is a brilliant movie because Michael Caine treats it like he’s Olivier doing Shakespeare. There’s nothing amateur or phoned in about it. #muppetchristmascarol #movies #film
