Kennst du The #Murderbot Diaries? Die Hauptperson verwendet im Englischen it/its.
I finished Jade City by #FondaLee but it didn't work for me like it has for many others. I found the pacing uneven and there were too many characters I didn't care about. After forcing my way through the final 100 pages, I needed something different, something decidedly fun.
So I returned to #Murderbot's third entry, Rogue Protocol by @marthawells. Once again, it was great, it was fun and I learnt a lot about humanness from an antisocial bot.
I was a little sceptical about reading Martha Wells' Murderbot Diaries - it didn't sound like something I'd be into - but glad I have. I've just read the first three (they're all quite quick reads) and just starting on the fourth, Exit Strategy.
The magic ingredient is how endearing the character of SecUnit/Murderbot actually is (and the other sentient non-humans, really).
Martha Wells is also EXCEPTIONALLY good at writing action.

I had the first Martha Wells Murderbot book in my queue for some time now.
I think it was Anne Leckie’s comments that convinced me to get it, but it’s been piled behind other books, so I didn’t read it until just now.
By which I mean I started a few hours ago and now I’m done. If you inferred from this that the book was a quick and pleasant read, you inferred correctly.
Recommended.
Short Circuit is a lot like the #Murderbot novels come think of it. A machine designed for extreme destruction has a behavioral limiter removed and it decides to spend a lot of time watching television. INPUT! At least that's how I'm interpreting Johnny 5 gaining sentience due to an overvoltage.
Short Circuit is still a steaming pile of garbage otherwise, of course.
I like the touch aversion #Murderbot has but I still don't feel represented :')
To me it's not something that repells me so much I go ew, but on a level with things I don't enjoy at all but can do without twitching, like doing dishes or cleaning the litter boxes.
Most of the time I still think it's a duty-thing gesture for everyone because I forget how unhinged humans are.

Finishing up listening to Network Effect - #Murderbot 5 - for the second time, after having read it multiple times over the years as well. It's a high-anxiety listen, gotta tell you, even though I know (VERY well) what happens and how. @bookstodon
#Murderbot and ART watch your favourite show.
example:
Murderbot and ART watch OFMD: ART is concerned about the ships. They criticise Ed and Stede in a way that directly reflects their own relationship. Go, I want to read that!
(I'll put "Murderbot and ART play #TheWitcher3" into my fic writing pipeline.)

@bruce me too. Can’t wait for new #Murderbot in November.
Also, if you haven’t seen it yet, @murderbotbot is a delight.
Just finishing my third re-read of the full series of “The Rise and Fall of Santuary Moon”, sorry, I mean #Murderbot by #MarthaWells.
"Possibly I was overthinking this. I do that; it's the anxiety that comes with being a part-organic murderbot. The upside was paranoid attention to detail. The downside was also paranoid attention to detail."
LOL, I feel seen!

Last night I started #TranslationState by @ann_leckie . I was pulled right in, surfing the whiplash from a chapter one reminiscent of Bilbo's goodbye to a chapter two with character with a voice right out of #Murderbot.
What's next tonight in chapter three? (That's a rhetorical question. No spoilers, please) #sff

All Systems Red is a sci-fi novella that is interesting and short enough to finish in a single sitting. A great choice to get out of a reading funk. It's also the first in the MurderBot series, so you can get hooked on some great sci-fi-lite fun.

"Network Effect" Martha Wells. 4 stars. She's perfected the #MurderBot recipe: awkward AI-AI relationship, friendly humans, emotional discomfort, clever conflict.

I'm now reading Martha Wells' 5th story in the Murderbot Diaries speculative fiction series. This book, "Network Effects," won a Hugo Award for best novel. The main character Sec Unit is *such* a wiseass! I am forcing myself to put it down between chapters to make it last, but my bookmark is inexorably moving towards the back of the book. Smiles plus adventure! #bookstodon #books #Murderbot #MarthaWells #ScienceFiction #Fiction

#murderbot is just such a likeable narrator, and the world is so interesting through its commentary.
If I could toot-quote or whatever, I would do it with this murderbot quote:
