My favourite Philip Marlowe adaptation is The Big Sleep, but my favourite actor to play Philip Marlowe is Dick Powell in Murder, My Sweet. He looks like Marlowe and, more importantly, he captures the wisecracking, but contemplative detective better than any one else.
