There's a lot of right-wing blather about how dangerous California and New York supposedly are, but they don't rank anywhere near the top of the list by #MurderRate. Louisiana has almost 3x the rate of CA and 4x that of NY. Besides DC and Puerto Rico, the South includes the bulk of the most homicidal states.
