I keep imagining new instances popping up that are funded by the "industries" they cater to. For example, news organizations could pay for their own instance and people interested primarily in news could create accounts there. I recall that someone was interested in setting up an instance for unions and organized labor. Imagine a portion of union dues going towards their Masto instance. Maybe a music based instance?
