Just finished listening to "L'Amant Anonyme" by Joseph #Boulogne (aka Le Chevalier de Saint Georges) and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised! Despite my previous thoughts on his (in my opinion rather dull) #symphonies, this opera was simply breathtaking. I might reconsider his symphonies then. The music and lyrics were both beautiful and moving, making for a truly unforgettable experience. #opera #musicappreciation #LAmantAnonyme

Nothing against digital download but how do you appreciate the album artwork & lyrics properly if you don't have the physical album.

There will come a day when downloads are it. But until that day...I'm off to old school. 😊👍💽🎵🎵

I have realised that I "rinse" songs. Which is to say, I hear a song once; "discover" it, then listen to it near-obsessively, until I can sing the words, intimately know all the melodies, drum lines, bass line, effects, etc.

This week in my final #MusicAppreciation class of the year we listened to #Bach’s A minor #violin #concerto.

There’s obviously no explicit Christmas link and yet it somehow felt perfect.

The joy and energy of the outer movements and the poignant simplicity of the middle movement never grow old for me.
