Hello, friends! A Whale's Lantern is a #MusicCollab project between Masto #musicians, in which people are randomly paired to create awesome tracks. We published 4 albums between 2017 and 2019 which can all be listened to and downloaded for free at https://awhaleslantern.bandcamp.com/

There's not been a new round because the Whale has been busy swimming in the ocean but maybe it will pick up again some time in the future!

My following list is full of music makers if you are looking for like-minded people!

Throwback to when I was involved in a fun little #MusicCollab for A Whale's Lantern: several of us #MastoMusicians got randomly paired up to come up with tracks loosely based on a theme, and the album got released on #Bandcamp

Ayoooo can anyone recommend some good instances for musicians? Anything related to music making, preferably where self promo is accepted and/or encouraged. Doesn't technically have to be music exclusive, could be a general art community as long as the music subculture is robust/active.

Ok ok I'm gonna do the thing I hate and use a bunch of hashtags in one post for visibility.

@lightweight @tellio This is one of the many reasons I like collab projects like A Whale's Lanterns and #MusicCollab -- connecting with a "stranger" to make a piece of music is a powerful way to get to know someone else ... there's a real vulnerability with sharing music with someone else, particularly in the early stages ... the question of sustaining those connections beyond the project remains tricky ...
