Hannah Gillespie was born and raised in Majors Creek, on Yuin Country, in the Southern Tablelands of NSW.

Music was an everyday occurrence in the Gillespie household, with never a tune too far from the kitchen table - the folk music tradition has always been a part of Hannah’s life.

It was only a matter of time before she picked up a guitar and started to write.

Hannah undertook formal studies in performance and composition and went on to play widely with a diverse array of fellow musicians.

Hannah’s debut solo album “Growing up Stupid” was released in 2009.

It encompassed a vast array of musical influences in a collection of beautifully crafted songs, brought to life by some of the region’s finest players, including bass player Matt Nightingale – a musical partnership that still continues today.

Niksta was nominated in 2016 Australian Independent Music Awards in the category of Roots and Blues with her song “Stomp”.

At the Tamworth Country music festival in 2017 she won the National talent quest for best female senior vocals in the Capital Country Music Association awards.

She was a 2017 finalist in the Brand New Star for 94.1fm radio.

2018 Niksta won the blues exposure competition with her song called “Bound for Glory!”
as well as going to Nashville USA in September to perform at the Americana Music Festival and record her 6th album “Smoke and Mirrors.”

Greg Lyon grew up in Melbourne Australia.

He studied piano and guitar and played in bands in the thriving 1960’s music scene while at high school and university.

The years 1969-1974 were spent working in Asia and Europe .

In 1974 he moved back to Sydney Australia, where he quickly became one of the first-call session/studio bassists, recording and performing with artists such as Renee Geyer, Glenn Shorrock, Brian Cadd, Doug Parkinson, Doug Ashdown and many others.

During this time he helped form the award-winning jazz-fusion band CROSSFIRE with Jim Kelly and Michael Kenny.

From out of the 2021 lockdown blues comes this uplifting album - a blending of soul, country, jazz and R'n'B, featuring some of Australia's finest musicians.

new Aphex Twin EP buyable and previewable here: aphextwin.warp.net/release/399

i don't mind this!

skittery grooves fill in the fine detail with slow ponderous harmonies floating serenely across it all. digging the lo-fi crunchiness he's deployed too

it adds up to something nocturnal and nostalgic, working an ambient vein in how the songs develop and unfurl melodically but braindancing hard in a tightly programmed rhythm section

RDJ is still being amazing and i'm glad

"Just a few years ago, the idea of a Joni Mitchell concert in 2023 seemed like an impossibility. The singer-songwriter hadn’t headlined a concert in more than a decade when, in 2015, she survived a brain aneurysm and lost the ability to walk and talk.

But seven years later – after what her friend Brandi Carlile called a “magical transformation” – she took the stage again in a surprise performance at the Newport folk festival, joined by Carlile and other musicians. Afterwards, according to Carlile, “Joni said, ‘I want to do another show.’”

And so, on Saturday evening in rural Washington state, Mitchell played her first headline show in 23 years. The venue was the Gorge Amphitheatre, a stunning venue whose stage is set against a backdrop of dramatic cliffs overlooking the Columbia River. For the Joni devotees in attendance, reaching this natural cathedral – nearly three hours’ drive from Seattle – required a pilgrimage of sorts. But that was no obstacle."

I Am Boleyn's new song "Driving in the Dark" has been in heavy rotation around Nagoon HQ. Impeccable songcraft, to say nothing of the production & performance. If you like at all this is a must listen!

Here's my reaction when I first listened to it:

"With Look Inside, Bruno Råberg goes it alone for the first time with his debut album for solo bass. The depth and diversity of the music he’s recorded reflect the wealth of experiences and studies he’s undertaken over the course of his journey, from investigations of jazz standards to explorations of Indian and African traditions, free improvisation to through-composed chamber music. Look Inside is a new venture for the veteran bassist, but also stands as a capstone to an eclectic and adventurous career."

An excellent review on the Jazz Chill blog of Bruno Råberg's excellent solo acoustic bass album, Look Inside → jazzchill.blogspot.com/2023/04
