I think Stephen Stapleton’s main accomplishment with Nurse with Wound is to demonstrate that all modern forms of popular music are subgenres of #MusiqueConcrète

#MusiqueConcrète is probably not in my top ten #music genres, but it probably is in my top twenty, which is enough for me to feel confident in saying that this one by Aki Onda is one of the best albums in that genre. Find the time to listen to it start to finish. An indulgent smorgasbord of classical, jazz, and #musiqueconcrete with some eccentric discussion sprinkled on top. Most of this album was composed with the use of musical cryptograms and traditional serial methods. I call this "the library album" for the hours of arranging and sequencing on public library computers using Noteflight and other online programs after my hard drive crashed at home.

I really like using the Roland SP404 mk2 for experimental music and improvised performance. As someone who also enjoys the hip-hop and beat centered music that is typically done on the device it is fun to try and use it in something that I don't come across others doing.

Something I tried recently with my SP404 was to record some chords played on my keyboard with the piano sound into four of the pads. This gave me something fun to create some different progressions with.

Then I applied effects with Bus 1 and 2 in serial to have 4 effects in a chain for re-sampling to other pads where I applied different effects for re-sampling those again.

During this process i was pitching and slowing down the samples to create more pad like sounds over just keys with a short attack and release.

It was fun to stack things and take the generic keyboard piano sound and turn it into something brooding and dark.
