@bjnlsgenealogy @geneapleau I am not aware of the doings at the #deadbirdsite but I do miss the comradrie we had there. I have not been active on my blog of late but I am teaching #genealogy classes locally. I just could not support #muskmadness. Had to disengage from #whitesupremacists and #totalitarianism All the drama I did not need. The poster who engaged on #indigenous #DNA was the first rude person I have encountered here in 8 months.

#MuskMadness really does seep into a lot of things. It’s an insidious form of the American Dream that says anyone with enough *It*, whatever that is, can be great. The only problem is most Americans give a pass to people who buy the Dream with inherited money. But then, most Americans still hold to the old Luthern doctrine that says that the richer you are the coloser to God you are too.

I’d suggest that a gradual migration makes sense for folks that have a significant #Twitter. I use my Twitter account now to encourage people to join the #TwitterMigration and to join #Mastodon as decentralized #SocialMedia is designed to avoid a #MuskMadness situation

Some suggestions on making the move:
- Put a link to your Mastodon page in your Twitter bio
- Post first on Mastodon and then cross post on the Mastodon link on Twitter
- Encourage #Twexit

@mauricejcasey, I'd say the lack of alternatives to Twitter was an issue with heft. To establish a rival, a sufficiently large community needs to be created to make that happen.

The challenge is how to overcome the gravitational force of the network effect? The #MuskMadness has created a space where an alternative with killer features becomes attractive. For those that want a more intimate exchange, the absence of algorithmic madness stoking the basest of human emotions is a welcome relief
