@AG7GM Orbital sensors are pretty damn good, but balloons can probably record a lot more RF spectrum at ~19 km vs ~1900 km. Might not be able to decode/relay in realtime, but recording for later relay/analysis is useful - ask the LW/MW/SW DXers with SDRs! A little disappointed they wasted a Sidewinder on a *balloon* ... F-16s have guns - one bullet and down it comes. Much cheaper!
