This movie has great photography. The night / underground scenes are so well lit and the daytime interiors etc remind me of the photography in The Shining. Same clarity and same sort of de-saturated look. I'm not sure how to explain it. Naturalistic. Kind of 80s TV. #cinemastodon #movies #MyBloodyValentine

My Bloody Valentine - mbv

A server-crashing *shock* when this got released in 2013, just over 10 years ago...an unexpected and delightful surprise.

Given the time involved, it's funny that it doesn't feel fussed over. It's layered and fascinating and a blurry, woozy cloud of buried emotion.

Great stuff, and another great mastering/pressing job, with beautiful artwork (even the inner sleeve), like the others.

My Bloody Valentine - Loveless

A repeat from a while ago, but what can you say about this incredibly important, influential album? It may have bankrupted Creation, but it was worth it.

As you'd expect, Kevin Shields spent an eternity making sure the LPs sounded exactly as he wanted them to. Given how dense the recording is, that was no easy task - and they're all great.

US residents have to import them (rights, I assume), but they're worth every penny.

My Bloody Valentine - Isn't Anything

Not counting the EPs, the three album progression from MBV starts here with a poppier, less dense sound that's still 100% theirs.

All three albums are 10/10, and all different. And who knows whether the promised-for-10+-years fourth album will ever come: we certainly never expected the third!

(Fantastic AAA rereleases, BTW.)

#GreatAlbums1990s - #MyBloodyValentine – #Loveless (1991) was largely indebted to the Cocteau Twins, although the added heaviness cut through the shoegaze pack just as nineties music shifted into sonic overdrive. Kevin Shields’ swirling guitars and the use of sampling against noise-infused rock were unbelievably seminal, anticipating everything that was about to explode in the world of both alt rock and electronica as the 90s really got going.

In 1985 volbrengt ze een auditie om bass te spelen bij Noisepop en shoegazeband #MyBloodyValentine, samen met gitariste en toekomstige frontvrouw #BilindaButcher, beiden vormen vanaf april 1985 een constante basis in de band.
Debbie zal bekend en geëerd worden om haar ruwe stijl van bassen.
In 1997 stopt Debbie en ook de band.

#SongOfTheWeek shows a band about to hit peak. #mybloodyvalentine had been a great band since "Isnt Anything" and it's accompanying EP's. But the "Tremolo" EP's best track, "Honey Power", was a teaser for "Loveless". "Honey Power" has as perfect a song structure as the band would record. Like most MBV tracks it's about some sensual experience and words are vague, but Bilinda's vocals are ethereal, the melody soars, and the guitars sting. Sleeper classic #vinyl
