Checking on the state of this year's mushroom crop! Looks like the mycelium has come through the winter nicely.

Plus, already starting to get some babies on one log.

From the left:

1️⃣ Awkwardly, I don't remember what I inoculated this log with. I think it might be maitake.

2️⃣ This is either blue or elm oyster (pleurotus, not hypsizygus) mushroom mycelium.

Okay, wow. Apparently, I really need to figure out how to label the logs.

3️⃣ Thankfully, there's no mistaking stropharia rugosoannulata mycelium. Lifted a rock and some leaves to find it overwintered beautifully.

4️⃣ Chestnut mushroom sawdust seems to have fared well under a cloche.

Zoom (who got her name before the pandemic, before zoom the company even existed!) was feeling a little left out, so here's her submission to #CatsOfMastodon #CatsOfMosstodon. Technically I'm not sure there's any visible moss in this picture, but Zoom is standing on a mushroom, so I think that counts as #mosstodon? Or maybe #mycodon?
