156 followers · 337 posts · Server eldritch.cafeI spotted a wonderfully rich patch of waxcaps and coral fungi at my local nature reserve recently and was glad to share this with an ecologist friend who had a lot of involvement in setting it up. He was as delighted as I and promptly asked the county recorder to do a survey - we found at least 12 different species which is a fantastic result for unimproved grassland and shows the merits of the work being done there. Does anyone know if there has been any study at all into the chemical composition / toxicology of Hypercreopsis rhododendri / Hazel glove fungus? I know it's very rare but I can't find any literature at all.

if anyone knows the identity of the second #photo the brown #mushroom cluster please share. I've tried, years ago I had thought it cocoa ears but now that there are many more photos discoverable I'm quite sure there's are not cocoa ears #fungus. The cap is a dry cracked texture the underside gilled. They grew in clusters like oyster #mushrooms on dead wood but much fleshier than an oyster.

The most glorious part of the #autumn is #fungus. Self declared #mycophile. I don't have nearly as much knowledge about the fungus kingdom as I would like but my love of fungus is boundless, and I'm learning everyday. Lucky for me I live in a #paradise for mycophiles
