spent the last few hours going through a box of family mementoes with mom & dad. lots of fun, v. wholesome. (even though dad was a bit of a troublemaker as a young man; it was the 60s, so i’ll cut him some slack.)

My father died the night before last night. Such an incredible man. Virtues and flaws, he had my complete adoration, respect and love.

Anything good in me is all him.
Sadness overflows, love infinite.

Yet incredibly grateful to him for his love, humor, integrity and curiosity, and boy did we have wonderful, exciting and joyous adventures together.

I was raised by Catholics and in the early yrs of my marriage I lived by their rules. The result was 5 pregnancies in 5 1/2 years. One Xmas, after my 3rd pregnancy, my Dad put a padlock through the crotch of jockey shorts, wrapped it up, gave it to my Honey in front of the entire family. When it came to the church my Dad ignored what he called “man made rules” and lived by what he called “God’s rules”. This was his way of reminding me that the birth control prohibition was a man made rule.#MyDad
