Another day, another scam... but as it's tax time, I could see people falling for it.
Even one person is too many, so I wrote about MyGov scams and how to spot them.
Education in this is important, because so many of these scams work on the premise that people panic and click.

The correct answer here is Yes, this is bad.
While I understand no one wants a Bobby Drop Tables situation, you handle this at the server side of the equation. You encode the character so that your DB system doesn't mistake it for a string delimiter.
Sigh.

Not that anyone need care, but nevertheless, FYI ~
The new MyGov account also started looping through credentials and back to the start when I later tried to log back in.
This proved that the old account was ok, and the issue was - is - that my.gov.au doesn't accept auto-typed or even pasted credentials.
I've struck this before on some pissant website that wouldn't accept auto-typing from a password safe. Not even via copy/paste for each credential.
Upshot: I had to weaken my MyGov password so I can manually type the bloody thing in.
ffs

Is it normal for the Australian MyGov website to send you through the login circle (name/password/2FA) several dozen times until you give up, or is it just fucked as usual?

This is a recommendation from the #MyGov user audit review:
"Ensure myGov leaves no one behind and upholds Australians’ human rights"
I believe that means every #Australian should have a #network connection, and that the people who can't afford one should be given it for free. In fact, finding out who can/can't afford it could be more expensive than just giving out (pedestrian quality) connections for free to all.
Lets force all #telco companies to deliver basic networking services for free to all Australians wherever the infrastructure is already-built. Let's force satellite operators to do the same for the other places.
Every person without a net connection is "left behind". We did it for landline phones, of course we can do it for (zero cost of additional nodes, remember) #Internet.

#scams #sms #myGov Here we go again scummy scammers sending an SMS to tell me my $7,500 refund is on hold. To get this imaginary money all I need to do is go to https://myrefund.com or something similar. There should be an option on iOS to flag these as scams that populate some database. Perhaps there is!
What if #Australia is wisening to the CloudFlare menace?
We were looking into a #myGov scam and found this topic at #CHOICE Consumer Advocate forums:
Its a fair summary of the state of retail #banking.
Immediately however, the topic was closed. We thought CHOICE had integrity, given that last year they exposed major retailers engaging in #massSurveillance using #facialRecognition cameras.
Seems not?
A time to start #WatchingTheWatchdog, perhaps?

@stilgherrian
I have an apostrophe in my middle name but very few computer systems will accept it as a valid character in a name field.
It pisses me off that I have to deliberately misspell my name before some govt website will accept the spelling.
As a result I go through hours of nonsense every time I need to deal with govt systems.
You have my sympathy!
