Been reminded (thank you) that I used to occasionally toot about odd items I have around that reflect some of my family history under #MyHistory so it's time for another one!

My maternal grandparents lived in #Plymouth, Devon and my brother and I used to visit every summer. The entrance hallway was typically British with a coat rack, umbrella stand and a wall covered in 'things'. All of which fell into the 'never to be touched' category making them all the more fascinating.

This was one.

Many thanks for the follow @dgar! The pinned toots you boosted are very much appreciated but I'll warn everyone that they need a wee bit of editing. They were written shortly after I joined up and was trying to define and then nestle into my own comfortable corner of the fediverse. I've obviously found it! 👍

Here's the first of what I call my grandfather's 'pocket litter'. It's a medallion as you can see by the hole/chain.

Known: found in his effects. My mother did not recognise it at all. Grandmother previously deceased. Well cared for so significant somehow. The cheap chain is Mom wanting a keepsake.

Guess: likely Masonic. Grandfathers trade and look of something accessed frequently but furtively fits. Similar symbology

Latin stamped, not engraved. Non-magnetic.

I *did not* expect to find out so much in responses. It's getting pretty convoluted *without* me messing about trying things.
