@rabsinthe 'Irreducible ontology' just means cannot be explained by reference to more fundamental constituent things. The heart, for example, can be thought of as a pump and that fully explains what it does. Some people argue that the '#1stPersonOntology' of #consciousness is irreducible. Now, this may be true or false, but at the moment it is not explained. For myself, I can well imagine that it will be explained in the future and is therefore NOT #mysterian.

He's on the #Mysterian side of that debate, apparently. #Consciousness does seem to have an #irreducible #ontology in terms of 1st person experience but can nevertheless still be understood as having been caused by the brain. It is not clear why there is this dichotomy.
