Anyways, the main plot catches back to us. The small brothers Vulpix and Beldum go buy some things as their mother is sick. Adorable babies they are! Maybe Vulpix is a town hero? Look at his ADORABLE face!

Beldum tripped. Only really young Beldum can do that I assume. Suddenly, as I go to bring back his apple, I have a vision! i think that's Beldum crying for help! But he seems fine, and they go looking for an item they have lost elsewhere...

Got a TM for Cut! This will be really useful for Skarmory, still lacking moves. I learned helping hand in the meantime, maybe I'll replace it with cut too?

Anyway, a sandstorm rages on this floor, which leaves Zoom unfazed, but I struggle to find the stairs, and I take a lot of damage in the meantime. Fortunately, I can Wish it not to be a problem.
I understand now why this canyon is nonsensical. At first it looks like a marsh, but then there is a sandstorm in the middle of a floor, and next floor, no sandstorm! Confusing. Finally, I arrive at the bottom, also called "Wonder Canyon". A canyon leading to another canyon, not so nonsensical afterall. We retrieve the pearl, and our first mission is over! Purugly likes having their pearl above their head, and they pay a mighty sum to get it back! But our dreams are soon crushed by capitalism.

A new goal appears in the distance: taking back the means of exploration. But for now, we are mere apprentices, and we can't fight Castformtwo, the perfect pokémon. It will have to wait...

Marshtomp lead us to our first assignment, to the mission board. Our first assignment is from someone named Purugly, someone stole their precious pearl! I wouldn't mess with Purugly personally. But onwards we go! We have to go all the way down to level B7F of the Nonsensical Canyon. This sounds like a place with lots of traps... Like grudge traps!

And suddenly it happens. A trap. Oh noes! but it's a slow trap! The grudge trap is still hidden...

Anyway, Seadra has a terrifyingly loud voice, and is apparently tasked to wake us up. Oh no, we overslept!
We join the guildmembers for our first morning meeting. That's a very eclectic team! And do I see... Rotom?! Oh my god I'm such a fan!!

It's time to choose a team name! I wanted to call it team Diamonds at first, but I think Zoom needs this one. let's call us the Zoomies! Hopefully this name will make us even faster.

Marshtomp leads use to our room. ANY GRUDGE TRAP?! Maybe under the straw beds?? I hesitate to touch it, hovering above it, while Zoom jumps willy-Nilly into it.

The night begins, as I still wonder where that grudge trap could be. I finally fall asleep on my bed, and no trap triggers. Safe for now. A mystery music plays, which amplifies my fear for a trap.

Castformtwo's real name is actually Mewtwo!! What a shocking reveal! (I don't know if that's a bug or intentional but oh boy is that fun) He must be the new and improved version of Castform, created by the hubris of science.

Our soon to be friend surskit, on sentry duty, doesn't recognize Latias' footprints, which... I mean what footprints? Honestly I would be just as puzzled as them.
Anyway, we enter Castformtwo's guild, teeming with pokémon. Looks like Suicune is there. We must be close to Johto with all these gen 2 legendaries around. Marshtomp greets us, he's the second in command to Castformtwo. He escorts us to a shocking reveal... The guildmaster.

The dungeon is a bit longer than I anticipated, but we arrive at the Evil Cone, the end of the exotic church. There, Rampardos and Entei are trying to make sense of the treasure they stole from Skarmory.

The legendary taunt us, so we fight! Solar Beam one shots Rampardos, and after a few exchanges, Skarmory pecks Entei to KO it. We won! The duo cowers, leaving behind Skarmory's precious treasure.
