#MythologyMonday: `King Cathaír Mór had a dream, in which a woman was pregnant an unduly long time, finally giving birth to a son near a fragrant, singing fruit tree. His #druid explained to Cathaír that the lady was the River Slaney that ran near Tara, her child the harbor at its mouth, and the singing tree the king himself.`

#Celtic #MythologyMonday: After enjoying life with #Niamh for 3 years, #Oisin returned to #Ireland. When his white horse shied away, he fell to the ground. In a matter of seconds he became old. The poet had been gone for 300 years. The place he returned to was the same but not the same as it was.

#MythologyMonday: After many happy years in Emain Ablach a group returned to #Ireland. One sailor was so moved that he leaped ashore. The eager man could not endure the transition to earthly time. In the #Otherworld, time passes more slowly than does ours, and as all his years caught up with him he died and faded to dust within an instant.

Turquoise represents fire in Mesoamerican symbology, with the Mayan god Xiuhtecuhtli being the god of fire, of turquoise, and the year. After the Mayan collapse, the connection between fire and turquoise endured under the Aztecs and continues today. #MythologyMonday
The first death came with the birth of Kagutsuchi, the fire kami, who devoured his mother from the womb outward. Izanagi, his father, cut him into eight pieces, which became eight of Japan's volcanoes, and created the water goddess to pacify him. #MythologyMonday
