#TCCON ist ein globales Netzwerk von Bodenstationen, die Treibhausgase wie #CO2, #CH4, #N2O und andere vom Boden bis in ca. 100 km Höhe messen. Die Daten sind unverzichtbar für die weltweiten Treibhausgasmessungen mit Satelliten. Die EU-Kommission möchte von uns, dass wir diese Messungen für die nächsten 20-30 Jahre fortsetzen und ausbauen.

Gestern wurden die Chairs inkl. mir selbst wiedergewählt. Und es ist wohl das erste Mal seit Langem, dass keiner von uns auf einer befristeten Stelle sitzt.

Obwohl deutlich weniger #Methan freigesetzt wird als #CO2, ist die Wirkung noch bedrohlicher (Tollefson, 2022). Auf einer #Zeitskala von 20 Jahren erwärmt Methan (#CH4) die Erde 72-mal und #N2O sogar 289-mal stärker als CO2 (Forster et al., 2022).

Find here a review of the reasearch we have done about thawing permafrost, the release of organic nitrogen, the fate and transport to the Arctic Ocean.
#permafrost stores more #nitrogen then it was assumed. The released nitrogen can also be emitted to the atmospere as #N2O, a ppotent green house gas.
