Yesterday I participated in the first round of the national amateur #Japanese #sake tasting competition in #Nakano (the one in #Nagano ). It was my first experience at this.

There were twenty competitors and we tasted 7 different sakes twice and had to match them. I was the only non-Japanese.

Surprisingly, I got a perfect score and won first place.

Next round I need to go to #NaganoPrefecture championships. The winner there goes to the nationals.

Police captured the killer in #Nakano City in #Nagano Prefecture after 4AM.

And and additional death was confirmed bringing the total deaths to 4.

I read one #AP report that misreported the city as “the city of Nagano” which is the prefecture name. The city is “Nakano” with a “k.” There is also a city called Nagano with a “g” but it is different and nearby so I can why some AP #journalist or editor may have gotten it wrong.

So, apparently the #Nakano City #shooter is the son of the city council chairman and he is holed up in his father’s house.

I was at the Nakano City office just yesterday morning for a meeting with their city planning and economic development people.

Wondering if those people were there in the same building yesterday.

Three people were killed in a stabbing and shot gun shooting in #Nakano City in #Nagano. Two were police officers. The suspect is holed up in a house currently.

This is very close to the place where I was all afternoon yesterday.
