I think I accidentally won NaNoWriMo this year (after YEARS of losing), despite deciding I wasn't going to participate. I don't know if this illustrates the power of working in a genre that speaks to me instead of what I felt like I was "supposed" to be writing, or the absolute need for escapism I have had this year.
