The efficiency of #protein complexes isolation from complex cell extracts is usually very low. Novel tags and biotinylated #nanobodies could help improve the yields. Impressive work (pre-print in #biorxiv)

We wellcome Ayesha Siddiqa in our group. She will support us in our research project, #NeuroMiR. In NeuroMiR we develop a novel approach for the early detection #biomarkers (#miRNA, proteins) of #neurodegenerative diseases (#Parkinson) in multiplex microbead-based assay that is embedded in a #hydrogel. For detection we use tailored #nanobodies.

Really enjoyed reading this review about the #structuralbiology of the interaction between diff classes of #nanobodies and the #SARSCoV2 #spike by Tang, Owens and Naismith (doi: 10.3390/v13112214). Very important insight: neutralisation can occur by interference with the S mechanics, as well as by competing with receptor binding. In the figure, the 3D model of the S at #FranklinInstitute showing a nb bound to the N343 glycan on the S RBD 😍 #glycotime
