This #nanovna is definitely not field-ready. Something on it is going to break within 10 minutes out on the mountain.

Fehlt nur die Abdeckung. Für 50W wird der Kühlkörper ausreichen. Leider werd ich das Frequenzverhalten nur mit nem #NanoVNA Betrachten können.

Last week I got myself a #TinySA Ultra. It has a signal generator mode, so here I am today comparing its oscillator stability against the bench signal generator using a #NanoVNA reflashed as #TinyPFA.

I was having trouble believing the output of my adev script because it showed such high values, so I loaded up the data in TimeLab which drew the same exact plot. 🤷 I also plotted the measured phase delta between samples. I do *not* think that's thermal (air conditioning) related. #timenuts

The #IC7300 did not like my fat fingers in factory default configuration. Very difficult to set the modulation mode. I could make it work with a plastic stylus as supplied with my #nanoVNA, tho. There's a fix for that in the #Icom IC-7300 FULL manual. Using the touch screen calibration fixed it right up.

My living room as an antenna test chamber 😂 Well, it was a rainy day, couldn’t set it up outside.

I’m testing a 2.4GHz dish, meant for WiFi links, but as it turns out, it has a decent match at 1420MHz so it’s actually usable as a Hydrogen Line radio telescope antenna.

Traversing in front of it, you can see its impedance (S11 for the experts) change. This happens because I’m affecting its near field. In human understandable terms: being sufficiently close to the antenna affects how it performs.

With my newly acquired LNA, this will likely end up being a much more portable Hydrogen Line radio telescope, I have high expectations 😃

Wochenendaufgabe: Ausmessen der Dachrinne. Wenig überraschend: eine Rinne von 5 Metern ist im 10m-Band Resonanz, im restlichen Kurzwellenbereich nicht. Was mir nicht in den Kopf will: warum wird bei tieferen Frequenzen der Blindanteil positiv und nicht negativ?

Deploy of a #NorcalDoublet in my backyard this evening before dusk.

Set up inverted V in N-S orientation with center ~25 ft AG in my backyard. SWR on 20m through 10m was >4:1 to 3:1. Need to use #NanoVNA to see if I need to tune it because for TX that just won't do.

Great RX down to 20m on the #XieguG90 before it got dark and my feet froze. SSB SWLs include Santiago Chile, southern California, and an unidentified station in Alaska on 10m. 🤯

My #zs6bkw / improved #g5rv #antenna finally broke completely- the ladder line broke off and it fell on the ground, along with the coax line. Of course, the goats found it first and destroyed it 😂 I made a new feed line with some rg8x coax and tested it with the great little #nanovna - results: 0.33 dB loss at 5Mhz, about 1 dB loss at 40Mhz for a length of 50 ft. Decent, I think.

Almost done building the more portable 49:1 unun. Using 3.2kΩ as a load, the sweep on the #NanoVNA is looking good. #HamRadio
