one slow, steady benefit to my new light but regular workout schedule is that I'm having a zillion story ideas. who knew getting swole would also boost my #Nanowrimo game?
Last week, I started brainstorming ways I could help #NaNoWriMo participants throughout and after November. I was in Professional Editor mode, not Writer mode.
Or at least, I was at the beginning. But the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to participate in NaNo myself.
I haven't yet returned to my editing-related brainstorming session (oops). But something in me was reawakened, and today, I find myself in my notes app, musing about a character's potential.
@Edent godspeed!
#NaNoWriMo is always in my calendar, and it either failed to ignite or fizzled out shortly, so such an organised approach seems to be setting up for success.
I have signed up for #NaNoWriMo to continue on from where I left off last November. (My WIP is an expansion of beginning of the Nano project from 2 years ago) This NaNo project will add text to the end of the existing timeline.
it will be interesting to see whether it comes out less condensed now that I have figured out that I am writing a series rather than a novel or even a trilogy: the WIP is currently 54728 words expanded from the first 17170 out of the 63k I wrote in 2021.
@pennylane you can follow the #nanowrimo hash tag directly, I find that pretty nice
Don't think I'll be doing #NaNoWriMo this year. Don't think the timing works out with the projects I have on the go. But never say never. I might do a slightly truncated version, as I've got an idea for a submission call, with a maximum length of 30,000 words.
Just got my Royal all cleaned up for #NanoWriMo even though it's still a bit early.
I use it for writing much of the year, but cranking out 50,000 words in 30 days requires it to be in perfect shape.
#WritersCoffeeClub 1: I only found out about this late yesterday...
I'm a #CreativeWriting and #EnglishLanguage undergrad student at the #OpenUniversity.
I don't currently have any published works, at the moment, as I'm only really just starting out. I write in fantasy (both urban and high), and romance/erotica, with a dash of crime. I'm also planning on doing #NaNoWriMo this year.
What else would you like to know?

Oh, my, it's September. That means I have a little less than two months to put the wrap on this draft so I can start #NaNoWriMo! #writing
#WritersCoffeeClub Day 1 - Intro: I'm late to the party, of course. I write urban fantasy/supernatural stories. Really just put down on 'paper' what my characters share with me. Not published yet, not sure I ever will be. But, I will keep writing.
Current WIP is a story based in the Star Wars universe that I started last November for #NaNoWriMo.
Themes in my writing include found family, the magic of true names, unbreakable bonds.
My #Nanowrimo project this year won't leave my head. I keep having to jot down vibes and nuggets not to forget. This will be a difficult project for me, but while it scares me, I'm also growing excited about it. It'll include #OwnVoices migraine representation in the main character. The migraines themselves will be challenging, but then adding in #fantasy and #pirate elements, hopefully I'll be able to show the frustration & annoyance of migraine #disability without annoying readers too much.

@ljwrites In my view, #NaNoWriMo is too much about quantity and too little about quality. If 300 words per day work for you, why should you attempt to write 1500 or 3000 per day?
#TimeTravelAuthors 27: Time you write?
Honestly, November & July. It's #NaNoWriMo that gets me writing. In Nov I try to carve out 30+ minutes before going to bed, in July I have more flexibility midday (not teaching).
Why don't I do that year 'round? Because so much other stuff goes to hell in Nov like keeping the house tidy, stocking the fridge, staying current on grading quizzes, keeping up with email and my website... at least there's no lawn to mow like in July. No idea how others do it!
What are some examples of software like #NaNoWriMo (https://nanowrimo.org/) or #LoveToRide (https://www.lovetoride.net/)? Websites that are probably operated by a non-profit and are normally *very* simple, like a single form and some badges or similar that aim to create positive change in the world. I'm not sure that I'm defining it well, but these sites do one thing only and both have a similar type of vibe to me. I'm trying to nail down what makes them great better so more examples are needed.

Okay, this year is going to be THE year I finally write (and finish) a Christmas romance story! I think this could be my #nanowrimo project.
Today's #writing update: I wrote about 1600 words and my draft is now at 22,185 words. If everything goes according to plan, I should hit the 50k mark on the 12th of September.
The pacing of the last two scenes feels off though. I can already see that they will need some heavy editing in the next pass. But they already helped to understand the MC better
I finally picked up a copy of #legendsandlattes last Saturday and that's what I've been reading during my lunch break at work and so far I am loving it.
Also super happy to hear that it was a #nanowrimo project. Love being able to read people's projects, hopefully one of mine can grace the shelves of Dymocks.

Is anyone currently #writing something and tracks their progress on #nanowrimo? Looking for some buddies or writing groups there.
I didn't do #NaNoWriMo last year, as I was doing two #OpenUniversity modules and that would have been too much.
I'm seriously considering an attempt for this year's #challenge. Plenty of time for me to think about what my story will be! 🤔 🙂

Anyone who has done #nanowrimo - how hard was it, and was it worth it? Did you need to do any preparation ahead of time? I'm considering it as a challenge, but it's a commitment when I already have a few things on the go. I'd love to have a chat with folk who have done it, folk who tried, and folk who want to give it a go.
