I started to hear about #NanShepherd from Samantha Walton, whose book on her I will now read. Stunned by the brilliance of the novels and The Living Mountain, the phenomenological account (she does not use that word) of the Cairngorms. The ethical interests of the novels, and the remarkable way each character inhabits an idiom of being as well as speech, are original. The Weatherhouse shouldn't just be seen in #ScottishLiterature contexts but read alongside Passage to India -- it's that good.
