The beautiful flows down the mountain in the of from Highlands south to Franklin and beyond. At times serene & slow moving as in this picture & at other times, raging & tumultuous. However you find it, it’s a lovely tree-lined oasis in this hectic world.

Deep in the old-growth woodland forests of the Appalachian mountains of Western North Carolina, sits the Nantahala National Forest. In the Cherokee language, Nantahala means "land of the noonday sun." Autumn is just beginning to show on some of the forest trees.
