A massive failing of Psychiatry is to continue to label SEVERE mental illness as "Personality Disorder." It misses the magnitude of the disease.

For the past SEVEN years, I have been trying to explain that is serious mental illness. It's a disease.

Ahh, the classic narcissist's absolute lack of self-awareness.

DONALD TRUMP JUST SAID HE IS TESTIFYING IN HIS RAPE TRIAL!!

Of course he's lying. Obv. But that would have been amazing, right?

There's been some discussion in the British media this week about narcissism
triggered by Boris Johnson's tetchy and entitled testimony to MPs about illegal parties he attended during lockdown.

This drew my attention to the wonderful "Narcissist's Prayer" by Dayna Craig reproduced below, together with an article which blew my mind in that it so accurately described my father and confirmed so many connections I'd previously made about his behaviour towards my mother and, to a lesser extent, me.

I excitedly shared the article with my husband, but he was unimpressed, saying that he'd learnt nothing from it. I think this just underlines how, as he put it, "Someone could punch you (ie me, not people generally) in the face a hundred times, but only then would you start to question if that person meant you harm". I wonder if any other autistics (or NTs for that matter) here are like that?

I'm sharing the article because I've come across a number of people on here saying that they were the victim of narcisstic relatives, so maybe it'll help them find some clarity - or perhaps it's just stating the obvious in which case I apologise for wasting your time.

So I've removed my younger brother from my social circle ages ago since he is like a little rat who will 100000% ignore my boundaries and share my personal info with our mother. Today, my aunt reached out to me and gave me my brother's number, saying he wanted to get on touch.
I don't trust him, and I won't text him. At most I'll send him a Facebook message like "hello. Merry Christmas."
It's just so awkward ๐Ÿ˜”

Do people with , really believe what they say? Are they delusional or gaslighting?

Backstory:
My sister stopped most communication with my mom a few years ago. My mom just said she was
1) the best mom,
2) my sister has had issues since she was 3, and
3) Sister is jealous of my mom b/c she's fat and my mom is thin.

(Both were mildly heavy until a few yrs ago, wouldn't be an issue if my mom didn't tell her she was fat all the time)

Both my parents have . I've been no-contact with my mother for 9 years, and my father for 3 years. Little moments in everyday life can really remind me of how much I'm missing by not having older adult family members to love and support me. (The singular person I could rely on became an ancestor 11 years ago). I know logically I'm an adult, but I don't have the familial bonds (chosen or otherwise) that I need. It really hurts.

When I was little, every day, I hoped today would be better than yesterday. It never was.
