This is despite him being PM now and having been Chancellor of the Exchequer when much needed funds to fix/prevent this problem were refused.

How much more culpable could he actually be?

Back in 2002, #TheresaMay warned that some people were referring to the Tories as the #NastyParty, and that much work needed to be done.

She then implemented the Hostile Environment policy, which lead to the rise of the BNP, UKIP, David Cameron wooing them and promising a referendum on EU membership, and Boris Johnson's facile championing of #brexit.

It's now obvious what May wanted was not just some, but all people referring to the Tories as the #NastyParty.

Interesting opinion piece in today's Guardian by Will Hutton.

Feels like so much of where we're at can be explained by the sizeable gap between UK's self-image & reality. Cognitive dissonance seems to make people either aggressively nostalgic or dissociate completely.

Confronting the reality of where we're at isn't doom-mongering or defeatist. Surely diagnosis is the necessary first step towards treating the illness.

So they really shouldn’t worry about that.

@JPK_elmediat I don't think we have anything remotely equivalent to Library Boards in Britain – public libraries are county-run, paid for by council tax, run by trained professionals, their range limited only by public financing squeezes.
