Just finished reading North American Lake Monsters by #NathanBallingrud and WHY IS IT SO FUCKING GOOD??????
It has everything I love about #HorrorFiction. Gorgeous prose, bizarre hopeless situations, and sad, broken people whose suffering is somehow emotionally vulnerable and validating.

I'm at a short story in North American Lake Monsters about a boy trying to get a #vampire to eat his mom's boyfriend.
I love the premise and how it's treated with so much sincerity since it's from the kid's POV, and the kid is legit messed up.

Though it's set on Mars, and has robots, Nathan Ballingrud thinks his new novel "The Strange" is less of a sc-fi story and more a dark fantasy. To find out why, check out this exclusive interview.
