Maroon Bells
Aspen, Colorado

Much like Half Dome in Yosemite, everyone takes a picture of Maroon Bells reflecting in the lake below. I camped there so was able to capture this morning image with no wind to break up the lake's mirror surface—add a little snow and a few fall aspen and I think I hit the jackpot.

Hidden Waterfall
Porcupine Creek, CO

Near Brown Lakes in the Rio Grande National Forest I caught a glimpse of a bright silver streak. I followed a double-track, not really even a road, to park and walk a short ways to discover this little falls on a tiny creek.

After effects of last summer’s wildfire. I was relieved to see only patches of forest gone. Abandoned equipment was melted together when the fire jumped the canyon.

The Forest Service is close to a decision on the Project of the to 3,500 acres of our oldest trees on steep slopes to create "Early Successional" habitat. The cut includes oaks and sugar maples more than 200 years old.
