We have #NationalGrid gas leaking to explosive levels into #Eversource electric confined underground spaces; they know it & the #CityOfNewton knows it (as should other cities & towns); in fact, it’s public knowledge; but everyone is in a conspiracy of silence, otherwise we could solve it before the next explosion and someone gets hurt or killed again. I’m saying this without fear of getting sued because the gas industry wouldn’t dare - I have the data; they know it. That’s why I’m tagging them.

We already know that slow completion of network connections to the #nationalgrid is slowing the development & deployment of #renewableenergy production across the UK.

Now it seems this is also slowing the expansion of the #electricvehicles #charging network required for the accelerated shift away from #petrol & #diesel cars.

Another privatised #utility is not doing what it needs to be doing because its attention is not on #infrastructure provision but on rent extraction!

@Nigel_Purchase My electric utility (#nationalgrid) turned air conditioning down from 5:00 through 8:00. my normal setting was 86 degrees, they set it to 80 degrees.

it didn’t come on during those 3 hours. but they can feel good about it. Location. Location. Location.

Q. how do you balance the #infrastructure building needed for the #GreenTransition & local needs (views) articulated through the planning system?

Though there is a certain amount on NIMBYism in planning problems encountered by #nationalgrid's moves to upgrade the UK's #electricity distribution network, there is also a need to design facilities to better meet local's demands not to have their locality disfigured.

If we cannot answer this question in a #democratic manner, we're stuffed!

My new #fridge keeps startling me. It's stainless steel, and in the dark it reflects the blue light from the clock on the stove as a full-height blue line which I keep catching out the corner of my eye. Still for a free $700 #refrigerator (that #NationalGrid's #efficiency program swapped for my 27-year-old one), I shouldn't complain.

I just unloaded my #refrigerator; a new one is being delivered tomorrow. Do I need a new #fridge? No, this one works fine. Do I want a new fridge? Not particularly. So, why? Because my sister found out that #NarragansettElectric (sorry, #NationalGrid) has an #efficiency program that replaces old fridges with more #efficient ones for free. Since I don't interact with people well, I let my sisters handle a lot of #adulting for me, and I just do what they say. So A will receive the fridge guys and I'll come out of my room and be surprised later…

I want to phase out fossil fuels faster than anybody. I want to phase them out at economy damaging rates, war-footing rates. I also fail to see how batteries, which need complete replacement every 10 years if they're kept within specified charge cycling range, are any better than gas.

A national electricity grid would have a minimum 100 year design life and use a fraction of the resources of a nation's worth of battery plants, especially fewer (actually none) rare-earth and micro-minerals, many of which are mined only in North Africa by slave labour. Batteries don't solve climate change issues, they add in appalling social issues and continue to make already too wealthy people even moreso.

Until today there has been no official acknowledgment by the #CityOfNewtonMA that the gas company, #NationalGrid, and it’s leaking pipes in close proximity to underground high voltage #Eversource electric infrastructure, could have any causal relationship to the #WalnutStreetGasExplosions

For the first time, a #CityOfNewtonMA official disclosed this evening that the City has been “in close touch” with #NationalGrid regarding the #WalnutStreetGasExplosions. This is a highly significant disclosure and development.

Near Bristol, a 152,400 panel solar farm and 49.5MW battery storage system has been connected directly to the national grid. This will help, not just with clean energy production, but in creating a more stable grid.

I found an explosive level of gas (6%) this evening in an #Eversource electric utility hole, fed by a leaking 12” cast iron #NationalGrid gas main.

This is at the same location as a June 20, 2022 explosion which injured a worker, at an #Eversource substation.

This substation was initially implicated in the 4/6/23 #WalnutStreetGasExplosion causal chain.

This is directly across from #CityOfNewtonMA City Hall, next to the #NewtonFreeLibrary, parking lot on Homer Street.

Since I had already called 911 once over weekend and nothing was apparently done to remedy the situation by #NationalGrid, this time I called #Eversource to say there was a strong odor of gas in its Eversource utility hole. Tellingly, the person told me this was a #NationalGrid gas issue and transferred me directly to #NationalGrid. The call record exists and demonstrates both utilities know that there is a problem with #NationalGrid gas leaking into #Eversource high voltage electric infra.
