National Radio Day in the U.S.
On this day in 1920, radio station 8MK (now WWJ), owned by the Detroit News, began its first regular broadcast schedule. It is often claimed as the first regular commercial radio broadcast in the United States.
The FCC, however, claims that it was KDKA, on November 2, 1920. There were other “radiophone” broadcast stations even earlier.

National Radio Day is August 20 on the National Day Calendar to recognize the great invention of the radio. Celebrate the news, information, music, and stories carried across the airwaves. And thank those radio DJs who over the years made a positive impact in your life. #NationalRadioDay
My father @BillyGraham shared the Gospel w/thousands of people through his Hour of Decision radio program, which was 1st broadcast in 1950 by the American Broadcasting Company. This #NationalRadioDay, you can still listen to his messages on the @SiriusXM Billy Graham Channel 460.

Who's paying for all that nonsense?
Just now learned that in the US today, 20 August is #NationalRadioDay
I am not within the US but I will listen to at least one of its two greatest listener-powered stations, #WFMU or #KEXP
@xmanmonk Yesterday was #NationalRadioDay in the US, I'd written to a Wales friend who introduced me to WSDR. This is lovely. @gemlog@mastodonten.de
