Found a large & healthy #colony of #ThatchingAnts - they're one of my fave #NativeInsects on #VancouverIsland ❤🐜❤
These are very #beneficial #ants in natural #ecosystems - they eat other insects & also aid with forest debris cleanup.
I really enjoy watching them at work & will do a video of that at different site w/larger #AntHill

Found this little chap in the garden this time last year—and it is a chap as he doesn’t have an ovipositor that looks like a stinger. Hoping we get some more this year. I’m a big #bug fan and find them fascinating.
