But is this difficult?

Months ago, I allowed a Passionflower vine (#NativePlant) to grow where it “landed”. Last week I saw a new type of butterfly in my garden: a Gulf Fritillary. Its caterpillars feed on Passionflower vines.

Beautiful complex purple flowers and the calming flutter of butterflies - and how much work did I do to get it?

#Poinsettias aren’t just for #holidays in #Florida. This #plant is native to #Florida and other parts of North and South #America and the #Caribbean. The showier #EuphorbiaPulcherrima is native to #Mexico and #CentralAmerica, and can’t usually survive further north. The #plants are #imported for the #season, then #die and are #discarded.
The humble paintedleaf will remain.

@scopes The #NativePlant varieties have several strategies to help them overwinter and sprout. Cold stratification in moist sand improves the germination for many varieties. Flowers will always be a favorite when it comes to color. Forget not, however, the berries. Is the American Beautyberry worthy of #JanuaryJoy? Certainly.

But get your pictures quickly. They will be eaten by brown thrashers, robins, purple finches, towhees and raccoons, all found in this garden and on the lookout for the bright color.
