Great to see rewilding in action at #Abernethy National Nature Reserve in the #Cairngorms. Opening up patches of the semi natural #NativeWoodland, breaking the 'even age' and allowing natural regeneration.

Old Friend

This was one of the first characterful willows I got to know - now increasingly recumbent and home to new trees forming from the lichen adorning the mostly fallen main trunk, but still, my Old Friend. No visit to the estate would be complete without saying hello.

Just over 3 weeks ago For Sale by Auction signs were put up for this piece of woodland. The auction was due to be held next Wednesday. There had been no prior consultation with our community. With very little time (< 4 weeks from signs going up to auction date) our community came together and have now saved this woodland for this and future generations.
