One of the cooler bots to follow here is Biodiversity Illustrations (@biodiversitypix). I've seen plants and creatures of all kinds, usually in beautiful color. The attached image comes from its most recent post: botsin.space/@biodiversitypix/ The only thing the bot doesn't do is offer hashtags.

Happy !
Here is “The Hooping Crane” in George Edwards’ A Natural History of Birds Pt. 3, 1750.
Yes, he illustrated it perching on an enlarged side view of its own giant beak. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Happy ! These paintings of an adult & juvenile Malayan (Tapirus indicus) are 2 of the 477 watercolors of flora & fauna by Chinese artists commissioned by William Farquhar when he was the Resident of Malacca from 1803-18, now in the National Museum of Singapore:

For + : Pl.431 American Flamingo, 1838. Audubon insisted on illustrating every bird in The Birds of America life-size, including this one, but even using the largest paper available he still had to cheat the pose a bit to make it fit, swooping the neck down in a U-shape.

Went to the natural history museum in Oxford today. Sadly they told me I wasn't allowed to paint there (to avoid staining the historic floor).
